Everything Everywhere Weekly Newsletter Vol. 1

Welcome to Everything Everywhere Weekly!

Welcome to Everything Everywhere Weekly!

I'd like to thank everyone who signed up for the newsletter. In the course of doing research for the podcast, I come across a lot of stories which are interesting, but wouldn't necessarily make for good episodes. Likewise, many of the episodes I've done have things which have been updated.

I felt an email newsletter was the perfect way to keep everyone up to date without adding more housekeeping time to podcast episodes.

Remember, to please subscribe to the podcast if you haven't already, and leave a review on your favorite podcast platform.

If you know someone who is a curious person, please feel free to forward this email on to them.

This Week's Episodes

Everything Everywhere Tour Update

If you aren't aware, I'm going to be running a tour in 2022. The idea is instead of running a tour where you bounce from city to city, to do a hyper in-depth tour in a single city. See things that the vast majority of visitors never to get to see.

I've identified Rome as the first city for my Everything Everywhere Tours.

We'll be getting access to places where most tourists are never allowed, and having guided tours by PhD level experts to some of Rome's most iconic places. This is a tour for true nerds who want more than people on the tour buses see.

I'm currently talking to companies who provide high level guides and access to restricted places. I'm putting together an itinerary which quite simply, cannot be matched by any other tour, or traveling by yourself.

We will not be switching hotels the entire tour, so once you check in, you don't have to worry about moving again.

If you are interested, just stay tuned here for more information.

Past Episode Updates

President Tyler’s Grandsons

President John Tyler, born in 1790, had two living grandsons in the year 2020. The eldest of them, Lyon Gardiner Tyler Jr., passed away at the age of 95 on September 26, 2020. He still has a grandson, Harrison Ruffin Tyler, who is still alive.

The Most Dominant Athlete Ever

After the 2020 world horseshoe pitching championship was cancelled, the 2021 event was held and Alan Francis won his 25th world championship! He has now won a world championship in five different decades: 80s, 90s, 00s, 10's, 20s. No other person in any other sport that I have found has come close to this accomplishment.

UNESCO World Heritage Sites

After canceling the 2020 nomination meeting, 34 new UNESCO World Heritage Sites were added to the list this year. I have previously visited 7 of the 34 newly listed sites.

Operation London Bridge

Operation London Bridge is the plan for the death of the British Monarch. Operation Forth Bridge was executed last April with the death of Prince Phillip.

News for Curious People

Ancient Roman ship laden with wine jars discovered off Sicily
The Guardian

Roman ships carrying amphorae were probably the most common trading ships of the Roman era. Their most common use was to carry wine and olive oil. There are probably hundreds of such ships to be found at the bottom of the Mediterranean.

120,000-Year-Old Cattle Bone Carvings May Be World’s Oldest Surviving Symbols Smithsonian

Our understanding of humanity's past keeps changing as we discover more artifacts. The story almost always keeps getting pushed back as we find older and older objects.

Lord Howe Island sees a wildlife miracle after mass cull of 300,000 invasive rats and mice New Daily

I've had the pleasure of visiting Lord Howe Island. It is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. I'd love to visit again now that the rats are going. I did a previous episode on rat eradication efforts on South Georgia Island. The removal of invasive species, particularly rats, is one of the best things that can happen to remote islands.

A New Population of Blue Whales Was Discovered Hiding in the Indian Ocean New York Times

Blue whales are not only the largest animals that ever lived, but also very rare today. They have extremely long breeding cycles. I once saw a blue whale off the cost of West Africa, but all you could really see was a dorsal fin. It is nice to see that there are more of these creatures than we thought.

Windmills, Pizzas, and Elephants This week I came across an interesting article about the new record for the world's largest wind turbine. The new windmill is 242-meters (794-ft) tall and will be capable of producing 16 megawatts of electricity. What really struck me as interesting was that the blades of this turbine are only 19% larger than the previous largest ones made by the company, but the turbine produced 45% more electricity! Basically, the bigger you make wind turbines, the more...
